Chemistry Department of Bhagini Nivedita College was established in 2007 and is amongst the youngest departments of the college. The Department of Chemistry extends the teaching of Chemistry subject to undergraduate students under different courses of different departments of the college. The teaching services are consistently extended to the students of Science B.Sc. Physical Science with Chemistry, B.Sc. Home Science (H), B.Sc. Physics (H). In New Education Policy 2020 based new curriculum (2022 onward) the teaching faculties are also involved in teaching the Generic Elective to the students of B.Sc. Physical Science with Computer and Skill Enhancement Courses to the students of all courses.

The department has well-equipped laboratories along with an instrumentation that houses modern instruments, such as U.V.-Visible Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometers, Potentiometers, pH meters and colorimeters etc. Our college has well stocked store for chemicals and apparatus. All faculty members of the department are highly qualified and experienced. Every year the majority of our students graduate with First Division and some of them are pursuing their masters from reputed institutes. Chemical society of the department is actively engaged in organising various competitions, hands-on workshops, lectures for its students to enrich them with the latest developments in the field.
